Turn you Standard TV into a security Surveillance System
Closed Circuit Television may seem something right out of Hollywood, but it is simple, effective and easy to install. As well as an excellent security device, it can also be used as a great way of simply vetting people who come to your door. And CCTV systems are not as expensive as you may think, starting from as little as £60.
Did You Know?
“67% of burglars said CCTV deters them from considering breaking and entering a home”.
CCTV systems are becoming increasingly popular for home security as they allow you to:
- See and hear your visitors “before you open the door "
- Monitor your property
- Record Nuisance Neighbours
- Keep an eye on your children
Which system is right for you?
Systems start with just one camera, which can give a black & white or colour picture. All Cameras from Response have a built in PIR (Passive Infra Red) movement detection facility. PIR (movement activated) cameras can be set to automatically change the channel on your TV to show the camera picture (or there is a facility to sound a buzzer instead if you do not want your TV viewing to be interrupted). The PIR movement sensor detects warm moving objects in its 7 metre range.
Video/DVD Starting System
This facility can be added as an option and, once programmed, can automatically start recording the camera picture on your VCR or DVD recorder when movement is detected by the PIR sensor on the camera.
Other facilities are available, such as time & date stamp, which adds a digital display of the time and date activation took place.
Multi-Camera Systems
As these systems contain 2 to 4 cameras, they are perfect for monitoring the front and back of your property, for larger properties or small commercial premises. All the cameras simply plug into a 4 way Switching Unit and this allows you to control which picture you see on your TV. For example, you can have the picture set to just one camera (say your front door) or you can set the switching unit to automatically “Cycle” through each camera in turn at selectable intervals. Either way, if one of the cameras PIRs detects movement, the picture will jump to the appropriate camera. The control unit supplied allows switching between the camera pictures at selectable intervals.

How easy is it to install a CCTV system in the home?
Modern home surveillance cameras are easily installed with the new and simple “plug and play format,” - ideal for the DIY installer.
The cameras are weatherproof and designed for indoor or outdoor use, they work well at night time too, but black and white cameras will see clearer (than colour) in low light, however if you need good visibility at nigh, simply make sure there is a nearby light. For example, a welcome light or nearby street light.
The cameras have 80 degree angle of vision and the integral PIR will detect movement up t o 6 metres (20ft). It is best to place the cameras high up and out of reach. The camera can tilt and turn to get the best picture.
For single camera installations
Each camera comes with 20 meters of cable, extension cables are available in 15 metre lengths to increase the distance up to 100 metres.
After mounting the camera and passing the cable through the wall, connect up the cable and run it back to the TV or VCR where it is connected, via the SCART socket, and also plugged into the mains using the low voltage adaptor supplied. If required, the keypad remote, with integral light and buzzer can also be connected to automatically alert you when someone is detected the integral PIR sensor in the camera.
When you connect via the SCART socket NO TUNING is required, simply press the AV button on your TV or VCR to see the picture. If it is connected to the TV, the remote can be set to “picture over-ride” and in this mode the TV will automatically switch to the camera channel to show you the person outside your property.
For 2 or more cameras
Each camera can be mounted around your home to cover all aspects including front door, driveways, parked cars, side paths, rear garden, patio etc
A Four Way Switcher will allow up to 4 cameras to be connected to one TV.
In “automatic mode” each camera will be shown in turn on the camera channel, this “dwell time” can be adjusted between 2 and 30 seconds. Whichever camera detects a person outside your home this camera will take priority and come up on the TV; other cameras will also activate and “follow” the intruder if he walks around your house.
By adding the Video Activator the system will activate your video recorder when anyone is detected outsideyour home.
A Time and DateGenerator will enhance the system even more, superimposing the actual time and date onto any recorded event as they happen.
